NEC: SHWARTZMAN ON PODIUM IN HUNGARY

Both races at the Hungarian Grand Prix venue took place under sunny and hot conditions on Sunday. In race one, Lando Norris managed his lead from pole position and pulled a gap of six seconds on Vasily Romanov and Ferdinand Habsburg. Halfway through the race, the gaps were brought down by the Safety Car. French Julien Falchero (R-ace GP) had gone off the circuit.

After the restart, Norris pulled away by 2.4 seconds to secure his second win. Both Fortec Motorsports drivers, Vasily Romanov and Ferdinand Habsburg, celebrated their first podiums in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup. Their Russian teammate, Nikita Troitskiy, had driven in second spot early in the race, but finished 14th only after a drive through penalty due to a jump start.

JOSEF KAUFMANN RACING STRIKES WITH DARUVALA IN RACE TWO

The German team Josef Kaufmann Racing scored the victory in race two as well. This time, it was Indian Jehan Daruvala to realise his first win in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup. Daruvala’s teammate, Russian Formula 4 graduate Robert Shwartzman, claimed his first podium success with second place and made it a double-victory for Josef Kaufmann Racing. Ferdinand Habsburg went into third place again.

Lando Norris led the opening laps, but retired from the second race after having won the first one.

DIFFUCULT WEEKEND FOR THE FAVOURITES

As Lando Norris did, all the championship contenders suffered from difficulties during the third race weekend. Points leader Dorian Boccolacci (Tech 1 Racing) and his teammates, Hugo de Sadeleer and Sacha Fenestraz, got drive through penalties in race one. All the three cars drove an additional lap through the pits into the grid, which is not allowed. Boccolacci finished 17th in race one and eighth in race two.

Belgian Max Defourny (R-ace GP) started from the back of grid in both races after spinning out in qualifying. Defourny managed positions ten and seven. His teammate Will Palmer scored places nine and 18.
