SMP Racing driver Robert Shwartzman stood victorious after the first Formula Renault 2.0 NEC race at Nurburgring. 17-years old Russian who celebrated his birthday the day before the race overtook his teammate Lando Norris at the start.
Max Defourny took 3rd in front of Jehan Daruvala which followed him after the first lap. There was a short safety car perioud after a few spins.
Shwartzman closed the inside line at the restart and saved his lead from the attack of Norris. Both Josef Kaufmann Racing drivers were fast during the race. Norris tried to close in on Shwartzman but the Russian didn't make any mistakes to score his first career win in Formula Renault 2.0.
Sunday race was less fortunate as he was pushed out of the first corner in a 4-wide racing incident.
Robert is now 5th in the overall rankings. The final round of the season will take place in Hockenheim. There will be three racing sessions.
